Dancing and Drumming

For more than 9 years, Dance Project has partnered with Wesley Williams of Suah African Dance Theatre and a Greensboro Recreation Center to offer a free, 4 week workshop in West African Dancing and Drumming to youth ages 6-13. For 2 hours each afternoon during the month of July, participants learn West African dances, song,s and drumming patterns; during the fourth week, the students travel around Greensboro sharing what they’ve learned in a series of 4 free community performances.Recent funding support has come from the Lincoln Financial Foundation.

In 2017, our summer workshop will be held at Brown Recreation Center from July 10-August 4.

The students will share what they've learned in a series of performances around Greensboro, the last two of which will be open to the public. Join us!
