The Dance Project is holding its annual African Dancing and Drumming Performance, featuring students from Brown Recreation Center and the community. Join these young people as they share dances and rhythms from West Africa in this energetic, fun, family-friendly, and free performance! The campers have participated in a month-long workshop led by Dance Project and Wesley Williams, director of Suah African Dance Theatre. Each participant has learned the rhythms and hand patterns to several songs on the drums, as well as the songs and dances that go to each rhythm. The program also encourages the creative gifts of the children, and emphasizes respect for teachers, parents, and themselves.
