Giving Tuesday

We are thrilled to share that we raised $1080 in support of our scholarship fund during Giving Tuesday!
Your generosity provides access to confidence, creativity, and community for aspiring dancers who would not otherwise be able to afford to participate. Thank you for sharing the transformative power of dance so widely!

Just a few thank yous from some of us at Dance Project:

Giving Tuesday or (#GivingTuesday) is the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. This year it falls on November 28th 2017. According to,  “Since its inaugural year in 2012, #GivingTuesday has become a movement that celebrates and supports giving and philanthropy with events throughout the year and a growing catalog of resources.” Primarily, it is a day of giving through social media campaigns and online donations. It is a way to start off the generous holiday season by giving back to organizations and causes that you find valuable in your community.

Dance Project is spearheading a #GivingTuesday campaign this fall, #DanceGives. We are creating interview clips with dancers of all ages, races, and backgrounds who describe what dance gives them, and encourage others to #GiveDance. These videos will be launched on Dance Project social media (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram) and on our website.

This year, #GivingTuesday donations go straight to our scholarship fund, which provides affordable access to dance at our School at City Arts. Our average scholarship amount per student is roughly $100 per class. Every $100 we raise on Giving Tuesday provides a student the opportunity to develop self confidence, hone their physical skills, and have fun with dance! We believe dance is for Every BODY, and we work to open doors to dance for as many people as possible. Help us give dance to more kids this season!

Here’s how you can help:

  1. Like, share, retweet, and regram our videos so that we can reach a wider audience. Even better if you add your own call for others to take notice of the campaign!
  2. Create your own short video, explaining what #dancegives to you! Be sure to share it with the hashtag #DanceGives, and link to our giving page.
  3. Make a donation–of any size! Whether it’s a one-time gift or a monthly donation, every gift helps us provide classes, workshops, and performances to our community.

Give long-term inspiration, movement, and joy this holiday season.
