Spring Showcase 2017

Hi parents and dancers! Here is all of the information that you will need for our Spring Showcase on May 20th, 2017. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to email Lauren. This is such a special time for our dancers and we want everyone to have a blast!

All information for the showcase will come through our newsletter as well as updated on this web page. Please reference the newsletter for updates.

Dance Project will provide costumes and parents must provide any necessary tights, shoes, and accessories for costumes. The required costume, hair and makeup details will be posted soon.  

And dancers will bring all accessories and for dress rehearsal on 5/19/17. 

DVD and Ad forms will be available soon!

We are in need of volunteers for the shows. Volunteers will receive up to 5 front section FREE reserved seats at the performance of their choice. Please email Lauren if you are interested. 

You are allowed to watch during the dress rehearsal in the theater. You can take pictures in the dressing space because the changing areas will be blocked off.

Show 1: *Plan to arrive with hair and makeup ready.

Dress Rehearsal: 5/19-Dancers arrive at 4pm, begin at 4:30pm.

Performance: 5/20-Dancers arrive at 10:30am, begin at 11am.

Show 2: *Plan to arrive with hair and makeup ready.

Dress Rehearsal: 5/19-Dancers arrive at 6:15pm, begins at 6:45pm

Performance: 5/20-Dancers arrive at 1:30pm, begins at 2pm.

Parking is available in the Church Street Parking deck and Davie Street Parking deck (self-help).

There is also street parking around the building.

Please keep in mind that there are a lot of events on the weekends during the Spring time so please leave extra time for parking!

Here are a few things to keep in mind about tickets:

  1. ALL ticket sales are online via Brown Paper Tickets. You may purchase tickets online up until 2 hours before the show. The box office will be open 1 hour before each show.
  2. The seating is general admission and each ticket is $5 plus sales tax and a convenience fee.
  3. Everyone must purchase a ticket to see the show.
  4. Any questions please contact Lauren!

Check in/Out Procedure: 
  1. Please check in at the check in table with the Dance Project staff member at room 112. (walk past the Van Dyke Performance Space and take a right at the purple awning, the check in table will be at the end of the hallway)
  2. Each dancer must arrive for Dress Rehearsal and Showtime with their hair, makeup, and any costume pieces that they are providing already on and ready to go.
  3. There is a changing area inside of room 112 where your dancer can put on any final costume pieces.
  4. When you come into room 112 please look for your dancers class sign.
  5. After the show parents will pick up their dancers at the door of room 112–you must check you dancer out of the room!
  6. Dance Project does not allow any dancer to be picked up from the showcase by someone who is not authorized to pick up. We will require each person to show ID.
  7. All costume may be given to a staff member at the end of the show.
  8. Parents, friends, family, etc. are allowed to come into room 112 and take pictures with their favorite dancer before the dancer leaves.

Hair:

There is a universal hairstyle for each age group listed below. Please make sure that all fly aways are secured.

Ages 3-5: (Creative movement) Out of their face and neatly back

Ages 5-6: (Ballet/Modern & Jazz/Tap) High Bun (on top of the head)

Ages 7-12: High Bun (on top of the head)

Ages 13+: High Bun (on top of the head)

Hair supplies: brush, hair ties, bobby pins, hairspray and gel (especially dancers with short hair or layers), etc.

Makeup:

Makeup is specified in the costume details as light stage or stage.

Here are examples:

Light Stage: Eyes should show up and lips should be slightly darker than their natural color.

Stage: light foundation with powder to set, blush, eyeshadow a little darker than everyday, mascara and a lip that is slightly darker than your natural color.

-Please remove finger nail polish and toe nail polish (if dancing barefoot).

-Please leave all jewelry at home.

-No Undies under costumes unless specified in costume details.

-Water bottle (they will need to stay hydrated) , non-messy snacks if needed (PLEASE DO NOT EAT WHILE WEARING YOUR COSTUME AND DO NOT BRING SNACKS WITH NUTS)

-Your own costume items and accessories brought from home as applicable (discussed in class and listed in costume details).

-Safety pins, sewing kit, and all hair and makeup needs.

-Please have all ballet shoe strings tied and tucked before arriving at the theater

For the safety of the dancers, flash photography is not permitted during the dress rehearsal or show.

A DVD containing both showcase performances is available. Order forms are available with your dancers teacher and will be available the day of the show.

Photos will be available after the show via our flickr account. We will send the link via our Newsletter.
