A playful exploration of the creative process and personal history through words and movement. How can poetry connect to dance? How can dance turn into a collaborative poem? Using existing poems and dances as a starting point, we will experiment with how we can re-use and recycle creative material to create new artistic expressions. No prior dance or poetry experience necessary, just a willingness to explore and create together! Comfortable clothes you can move in are recommended.
This workshop is part of Dance Project’s ongoing Maker’s Space workshop. Generally, our Maker’s Space program is a creative playground for movers who want to explore choreography, experiment with new ideas, and grow as artists. Each 2-class session is led by a rotating artist who will guide students through structured warm-up, improvisation, and choreographic tools from their own unique practice to spark creativity. Typically open to intermediate/advanced dancers (18+) and local professionals, the February workshops are open to all levels. For more information, visit: https://danceproject.org/special-classes/
