Parent Observation Week (10.16-10.21)
- 10.16-10.21 is Parent Observation Week for youth classes!
- Your child’s teacher should invite parents in within the first 5-10 minutes of class to observe (and maybe even participate!) for the rest of class time.
- So bring your dancing shoes and get ready to see what your child has been learning in dance class so far this semester!
- Rescheduled Parent Observation:
- Mon. Ballet I/II 4-5pm with Adrienne rescheduled to 10.23
- Sat. Creative Movement 10-10:45am with Meghan rescheduled to 10.28
- Sat. Ballet/Modern 10:45-11:45am with Meghan rescheduled to 10.28
Halloween Dress Up (10.23-10.31)
- We encourage all dancers to wear their costumes to class from 10.23-10.31! We hope you have lots of spooky fun!
Registration Software Switch!
- Announced earlier in the semester, Dance Project is excited to let our families know that we will be switching registration software to Dance Studio Pro beginning in mid-November!
- Dance Studio Pro comes with many exciting features for our families such as an app with everything you need for your dancer’s classes!
- In our hopes to make this transition seamless for our current families, we will be transferring class data from our current software to Dance Studio Pro in the coming weeks.
- We will keep you updated with what this means for registration for Spring classes, as well as any shifts for the Fall.
Parade Rehearsals Begin Soon!
- DP performs in the Greensboro Holiday Parade Saturday, 12.2 12pm! *Mandatory for Performance Co. (Minis, Juniors, Teens/Rise), optional all other Dance Project students!
- Ages 7 & under- can walk in the parade with banner/ribbon wands (must have parent/adult chaperone),
- Ages 8 & up- can learn parade choreography and dance in parade, must attend at least 3 rehearsals.
- Parade Rehearsals: 11.3, 11.10, 11.17 5:00-6:00pm & 11.27 5:15-6:00pm *last 2 rehearsals mandatory
- How to Sign Up:
- Please fill out the following Google Form by your child’s first rehearsal and by 11.10 at the latest: Holiday Parade Sign Up Form 2023
- How to Pay:
- $10 fee for all dancing OR walking in parade (including parent chaperones)
- Please pay via cash/check in office OR in online portal via card.
- What to Wear:
- Black DP t-shirt with white letters (optional DP jacket, underlayers such as long sleeve/turtleneck if cold)
- Black Leggings OR DP leggings/Black DP Joggers
- No black DP shirts available in office at this time. Order shirts ASAP here in order to get in time for parade!

Class Highlights:
- Absolute Beginner Ballet (18+)
- Join us for an 18+ ballet class designed for adults new to dance or returning to dance! This class is open to all levels and experience. Fridays 7:00-8:00pm with Christina Motley and available for drop in all Fall!
- Pilates for Dances (13+)
- Join us for this new class taught by Pilates instructor and dancer Annie Young! Build strength and flexibility to support movement. This class is open to all levels and experience, and for dancers and “non-dancers” alike. Saturdays 9:30am-10:30am and available for drop in all Fall!
Parkinson’s Dance Class has begun!
- Session Length: October 3 – December 12 *10 Weeks* (No class will be held on November 21st – Dance Project will be closed for Spring Break)
- When: Tuesdays 9:30am – 10:30am
- Where: Van Dyke Performance Space, 1st Floor of Greensboro Cultural Center in Downtown (200 N. Davie St., Greensboro, NC 27401)
- Exception for October 3 & October 17– Studio 323 at Dance Project, 3rd floor of Greensboro Cultural Center in Downtown (200 N. Davie St., Greensboro, NC 27401) *accessible by elevator or stairs*
- Who: People of any age or ability, with or without Parkinson’s (family members, loved ones, & caretakers invited!)
- About this Class: Dance Project’s free program allows individuals with Parkinson’s or limited mobility to use dance as therapy. This class incorporates physical exercise, cognitive tasks, sensory experience, emotional expression, and social interaction. As a multidimensional activity, dance has the potential to address many of the challenges faced by persons with Parkinson’s or limited mobility. Instructor: Davida Reid. This program is supported by a community grant from the Parkinson’s Foundation and with support from Cone Health Medical Group.

The North Carolina Dance Festival (NCDF)
- NC Dance Festival Fall 2023 performances & events have begun!
- 10.27 FREE PERFORMANCE FOR SCHOOL GROUPS (VDPS, Greensboro)
- Renay Aumiller, Gerri Houlihan, Mandi Moore, and Seema Viswanath will present a performance and Q&A for school groups.
- 11.12 CREATIVE COLLABORATION EXCHANGE (The Artist Bloc, Greensboro)
- James Daniels, Damien Mathis, Seema Viswanath, and Anna Williams collaborate for 1 day in mixed art forms, culminating in a performance. Co-presented with TAB Arts Center.
- 10.27 FREE PERFORMANCE FOR SCHOOL GROUPS (VDPS, Greensboro)
- What is NCDF? The NC Dance Festival, a production of the Dance Project, is an annual touring showcase of modern and contemporary choreography by NC artists. The Festival establishes a network of venues for professional regional choreography and performance, expanding accessibility of dance throughout the state while raising the profile of North Carolina’s own artists.

Fall 2023 Multi-Class Passes Still Available & Single Class TIckets Still on Sale!
- Fall Semester runs 9.5-12.16 (14 weeks)
- Drop In Rate: $15
- 10 Class Pass: $135
- Any 10 classes of your choosing, expires after session ends. Master classes excluded.
- UNLIMITED ALL Class Pass: $300
- Unlimited classes of your choosing all 14 weeks of the Fall semester. Master classes excluded.

- Dance Project does not accept cash, check or credit card payments in office for drop in class tickets/class pass purchases.
- Class Tickets/Class Passes must be purchased online via Eventbrite and require manual card entry. If you have any trouble purchasing a class ticket online, Dance Project Staff are happy to walk you through this process to purchase your ticket/pass online in office or on the phone.
- *An exception is only made for Adult Scholarships and Professional Practice Program scholarship recipients, who may pay in office via cash or check, or online via a class portal account here.*
Waiver
- Please be sure to fill out the waiver attached to your ticket/pass receipt before your first class with Dance Project, or you may be asked to fill out a paper copy of our waiver before class. A waiver is required for participation in classes at Dance Project.

Adult Performance Company
- What is Adult Performance Company?
- Dance Project’s Adult Performance Company (18+) is an opportunity for adult dancers to learn, create, and perform choreography in the community, and participate in many other opportunities, such as attending dance events and workshops! Dancers meet for a weekly class which serves as their rehearsal time and work with a choreographer for the year. Adult Performance Company is open to all! No audition is required. Dancers are required to take at least 1 weekly dance technique class in addition to APC rehearsal time, in any dance style. Performance Company is only offered in Fall & Spring.

Performance Company Reminders

- What is Performance Company? Performance Companies are an opportunity for you/your dancer to learn and perform choreography in the community for the Fall 2023-Spring 2024 year, and participate in many other fun and exciting dance events and workshops! Dancers enroll in a weekly class which serves as their rehearsal time each week + 1 other technique class in any style.
- Who can join?
- Mini Performance Company (5-7), Junior Performance Company (8-12), Teen Performance Company (13-18), and Adult Performance Company (18+) are open to all!
- No audition required. Dancers are required to be enrolled in at least 1 dance technique class in addition to any Performance Co. rehearsal time. Rise Pre-Professional Company is audition/invitation only for advanced dancers and requires enrollment in at least 2 dance technique classes in addition to Rise rehearsal time.
- Contract acceptance and rehearsal/performance commitment is required for participation in any Performance Co. group.
- Mini Performance Company (5-7), Junior Performance Company (8-12), Teen Performance Company (13-18), and Adult Performance Company (18+) are open to all!
- When will Performance Companies rehearse Fall 2023-Spring 2024?
- This upcoming season’s rehearsal times are the following: MPC Tuesdays 4:00-4:45pm, JPC Wednesdays 5:00-6:00pm, TPC Tuesdays 7:30-8:30pm, Rise Thursdays 7:30-8:30pm, APC Thursdays 7:45-9:00pm. Full schedule here

- We want to take the time to check in with our dancers in our performance companies to see how the semester is going so far and find out any goals our dancers are working towards, and find out how we can best support these goals.

- Greensboro Holiday Parade Details above in general school reminders.
- NUVO Dance Convention (Optional, highly encouraged)
- January 26th-28th 2023 in Atlanta, GA
- This is a dance convention where our Rise, TPC, and select JPC dancers can take classes over a weekend from professional artists in various styles (jazz, ballet, contemporary, hip-hop, musical theatre, ballroom, tap, improv, & more). Ages 11+. $345 per dancer early fee. Classes typically run from 7:30am-4pm on Saturday and Sunday.
- Please visit this link to get hotel details and cost details per dancer. Reserve a hotel room (even if you don’t use it) at the Signia by Hilton Atlanta ($214 NUVO rate) as soon as possible because they will book up.

Teen Performance Co. Reminders:
- Teen Performance Co. Summer 2023 Guest Piece- with Choreographer Bre Forbes!
- Please stay tuned for dates for TPC Guest Piece Fall 23 extra rehearsals.
- Bre Forbes, former NCDF artist and current Dance Project board member is this year’s Teen Performance Co. guest artist!
- Bre has set a hip-hop influenced piece of choreography that is open to all new and returning TPC dancers to join. This piece will be performed throughout the 2023-2024 season and requires commitment to the full performance company year.
