Youth Student Reminders
Welcome Back from Thanksgiving Break!
- We return for classes today, Monday 11.27! We hope you had a wonderful break! 🙂
New Registration Software & Spring 2024 Classes Launched!
- It’s finally here- Spring 2024 Registration AND our new system have now launched! We have officially upgraded our studio software to a different service provider called DanceStudio-Pro (also known as DSP). This software is now available for our patrons to use. Please see separate email for full details on how to get started and register for Spring classes.
- *Please note: December Installment of Tuition will be collected via our new system (or via cash/check as always!) Tuition will appear posted on accounts to pay as early as the 27th of each month prior (ex: Nov. 27th post, Dec. due)*
- DP offers classes for ages 18 months-18+! Check out our schedule here! Spring runs Jan. 16-June 2. Registration closes 2.22.24

Parade is Here! Final Rehearsal & Parade THIS Week!
- *FULL DP PARADE DETAILS NOW AVAILABLE HERE INCLUDING PARADE NUMBER AND STARTING POINT: GSO Holiday Parade Details 2023*
- DP performs in the Greensboro Holiday Parade Saturday, 12.2 12pm! *Mandatory for Performance Co. (Minis, Juniors, Teens/Rise), optional all other Dance Project students!
- *Reminder- parade is rain or shine! There is a chance of rain this Saturday!*
- Ages 7 & under- can walk in the parade with banner/ribbon wands (must have parent/adult chaperone),
- Ages 8 & up- can learn parade choreography and dance in parade, must attend at least 3 rehearsals.
- Parade Rehearsals: 11.27 5:15-6:00pm *last rehearsal mandatoryÂ
- LAST CALL- Please Register for Parade:
- Please fill out the following Google Form: Holiday Parade Sign Up Form 2023 Last chance- register before 12.1!
- LAST CALL- Please Pay Parade Fee:
- $10 fee for all dancing OR walking in parade (including parent chaperones)
- Please pay via cash/check in office OR in online portal via card. Last chance- pay before 12.1!
- What to Wear:
- Black DP t-shirt with white letters (optional DP jacket, underlayers such as long sleeve/turtleneck if cold)
- Black Leggings OR DP leggings/Black DP Joggers
- Plain black, white, or black/white sneakers
- No black DP shirts available in office at this time. Order shirts ASAP here in order to get in time for parade!
- Optional clear rain poncho (DP will have a few on hand)Â

- Come see all of our Performance Companies dance at Festival of Lights- THIS Friday, 12.1!
- CALL TIME (please arrive in costume/makeup arrive no later than): 5:00pm in Studio 323 on 3rd Floor of GCC *you may arrive as early as 4:30pm*
- PERFORMANCE TIME: 6:00-6:20pm on 1st Floor of GCC
- *IMPORTANT NOTICE*: there is a good chance we will have to perform in the GCC atrium instead of VDPS. We will update you ASAP if this is the case.
- Week of 11.27-11.30: In-class Dress Rehearsal for all performance companies. Dancers will need to wear all costume items/bring any items needed from home.
- MPC Costumes: Please wear Underlayers: black leggings, optional black leo/tank (spaghetti strap/tank) hair out of face, light stage makeup. Dance Project provides other items. Please let us know if you need to borrow underlayers!
- JPC Costumes: Please wear Underlayers: flesh tone tights, black leo/tank (spaghetti strap/tank) hair out of face, stage makeup. Dance Project provides other items. Please let us know if you need to borrow underlayers!

The North Carolina Dance Festival (NCDF)
- NC Dance Festival Fall 2023 performances & events have come to a close!
- Thank you so much to all who joined us for our Fall 2023 events! Please stay tuned for more details in regards to Spring 2024 NCDF events!
- What is NCDF? The NC Dance Festival, a production of the Dance Project, is an annual touring showcase of modern and contemporary choreography by NC artists. The Festival establishes a network of venues for professional regional choreography and performance, expanding accessibility of dance throughout the state while raising the profile of North Carolina’s own artists.

Performance Company Reminders

- What is Performance Company? Performance Companies are an opportunity for you/your dancer to learn and perform choreography in the community for the Fall 2023-Spring 2024 year, and participate in many other fun and exciting dance events and workshops! Dancers enroll in a weekly class which serves as their rehearsal time each week + 1 other technique class in any style.
- Who can join?
- Mini Performance Company (5-7), Junior Performance Company (8-12), Teen Performance Company (13-18), and Adult Performance Company (18+) are open to all!
- No audition required. Dancers are required to be enrolled in at least 1 dance technique class in addition to any Performance Co. rehearsal time. Rise Pre-Professional Company is audition/invitation only for advanced dancers and requires enrollment in at least 2 dance technique classes in addition to Rise rehearsal time.
- Contract acceptance and rehearsal/performance commitment is required for participation in any Performance Co. group.
- Please reach out to magalli@danceproject.org if you are interested in returning to/joining Performance Co.

- THIS Saturday, 12.2 *details from downtown GSO now here! Please see details above in general school reminders!
- NUVO Dance Convention (Optional, highly encouraged)
- January 26th-28th 2023 in Atlanta, GA
- This is a dance convention where our Rise, TPC, and select JPC dancers can take classes over a weekend from professional artists in various styles (jazz, ballet, contemporary, hip-hop, musical theatre, ballroom, tap, improv, & more). Ages 11+. $345 per dancer early fee. Classes typically run from 7:30am-4pm on Saturday and Sunday.
- Please visit this link to get hotel details and cost details per dancer. Reserve a hotel room (even if you don’t use it) at the Signia by Hilton Atlanta ($214 NUVO rate) as soon as possible because they will book up.

- Teen Performance Co. Summer 2023 Guest Piece- with Choreographer Bre Forbes!
- Please stay tuned for dates for TPC Guest Piece extra rehearsals.
- Bre Forbes, former NCDF artist and current Dance Project board member is this year’s Teen Performance Co. guest artist!
- Bre has set a hip-hop influenced piece of choreography that is open to all new and returning TPC dancers to join. This piece will be performed throughout the 2023-2024 season and requires commitment to the full performance company year.
