Youth Student Reminders

No Classes 12.1 & 12.2- Join us for the Festival of Lights and Holiday Parade!

Holiday Parade- THIS Saturday 12.2!

Professional Photographer in Classes- Monday Dec. 4 & Wed. Dec. 6

  • The following classes will be affected:
    • Mon- Ballet I/II (8-12), Creative Movement (3-5), Jazz I/II (8-12), Modern I/II (13+)
    • Wed- Junior Performance Co. (8-12), Ballet I/II (13+), Ballet III/IV (13+), 
    • What to Wear: please wear clothing you feel comfortable being photographed in/that is form fitting to your comfort level, hair out of face, solid colors, no graphics (except DP)* 
    • Our hopes are that the images captured for marketing purposes will highlight the DP experience: professional quality dance with a fun, community feel!

New Registration Software & Spring 2024 Classes Launched!

  • Spring 2024 Registration AND our new system have now launched! We have officially upgraded our studio software to a different service provider called DanceStudio-Pro (also known as DSP). This software is now available for our patrons to use. Please see separate email for full details on how to get started and register for Spring classes. 
  • *Please note: December Installment of Tuition will be collected via our new system (or via cash/check as always!) Tuition will appear posted on accounts to pay as early as the 27th of each month prior (ex: Nov. 27th post, Dec. due)*
  • DP offers classes for ages 18 months-18+! Check out our schedule here! Spring runs Jan. 16-June 2. Registration closes 2.22.24
  • Spring Scholarships are now open! Applications close 2.12.24

 Winter Showing

  • Save the date: Last week of classes 12.11-12.16 is our informal Winter Showing!
  • Similar to Parent Observation Week, students will be able to invite family/friends to join them in class to see what they have learned or to participate! Each class may have their own unique Winter Showing plans, but teachers will invite any guests into the studio within the first few minutes of class to join for the remainder of class time. Stay tuned for more details!

Performance Company Reminders

Reminders for ALL Performance Co (MPC, JPC, TPC, APC, Rise): 

  • Festival of Lights- THIS Friday, 12.1 *Please see separate email for full details*
    • CALL TIME (please arrive in costume/makeup arrive no later than): 5:00pm in Studio 323 on 3rd Floor of GCC *you may arrive as early as 4:30pm*
      • -5:10pm TPC runs dance
      • -5:30pm APC runs dance
    • DROP OFF/PICK UP LOCATION: Studio 323 on 3rd floor of Greensboro Cultural Center (Dressing Room)
    • PERFORMANCE TIME: 6:00-6:20pm in Seating begins 5:45pm.
    • PERFORMANCE LOCATION: Van Dyke Performance Space on 1st Floor of Greensboro Cultural Center. 
    • SHOW ORDER: 1. Rise 2. Mini Performance Co. 3. Junior Performance Co. 4. Adult Performance Co. 5. Teen Performance Co.
    • PARKING: Church St. Parking Deck suggested, other parking available downtown. *recommended to arrive early/park early- decks FILL for this event*
    • COSTUMES:
      • Mini Performance Co. (Tues., ages 5-7, Ms.Brandi): Hair out of face, light stage makeup, barefoot. Please wear underlayers: black leotard or tank. Dance Project provides- t-shirt and leggings, black leotard for those who need to borrow.
      • Junior Performance Co. (Wed., ages 8-12, Ms. Annie): Hair out of face, light stage makeup, barefoot. Please wear Underlayers: footless/convertible flesh tone tights, black OR flesh tone leotard. Dance Project provides- white leotard/black skirt combo OR black dress, green ribbon hair accessory (dancer’s choice how to style), black/flesh tone leotard and flesh tone tights for those who need to borrow.
      • Teen Performance Co. (Tues., ages 13+, Ms. Lauren):  All black clothing, hair out of face, stage makeup. Dance Project provides- green ribbon choker. 
      • Rise (Thurs., Ms. Milanda): Please see Milanda for full details.
      • Adult Performance Co. (Thurs., ages 18+, Carrie): Please see Carrie for full details.
  • Greensboro Holiday Parade Details above in general school reminders.
    • THIS Saturday, 12.2 *Please see details above in general school reminders!
  • NUVO Dance Convention (Optional, highly encouraged)
    • January 26th-28th 2023 in Atlanta, GA
    • This is a dance convention where our Rise, TPC, and select JPC dancers can take classes over a weekend from professional artists in various styles (jazz, ballet, contemporary, hip-hop, musical theatre, ballroom, tap, improv, & more). Ages 11+. $345 per dancer early fee. Classes typically run from 7:30am-4pm on Saturday and Sunday.
    • Please visit this link to get hotel details and cost details per dancer. Reserve a hotel room (even if you don’t use it) at the Signia by Hilton Atlanta ($214 NUVO rate) as soon as possible because they will book up.

Teen Performance Co. Reminders:

  • Teen Performance Co. Summer 2023 Guest Piece- with Choreographer Bre Forbes!
    • Please stay tuned for dates for TPC Guest Piece extra rehearsals.
    • Bre Forbes, former NCDF artist and current Dance Project board member is this year’s Teen Performance Co. guest artist! 
    • Bre has set a hip-hop influenced piece of choreography that is open to all new and returning TPC dancers to join. This piece will be performed throughout the 2023-2024 season and requires commitment to the full performance company year.

Adult Performance Co. Reminders:

What is Performance Company? 

Performance Companies are an opportunity for you/your dancer to learn and perform choreography in the community for the Fall 2023-Spring 2024 year, and participate in many other fun and exciting dance events and workshops! Dancers enroll in a weekly class which serves as their rehearsal time each week + 1 other technique class in any style. 

  • Who can join?
    • Mini Performance Company (5-7), Junior Performance Company (8-12), Teen Performance Company (13-18), and Adult Performance Company (18+) are open to all!
      • No audition required. Dancers are required to be enrolled in at least 1 dance technique class in addition to any Performance Co. rehearsal time. Rise Pre-Professional Company is audition/invitation only for advanced dancers and requires enrollment in at least 2 dance technique classes in addition to Rise rehearsal time. 
    • Contract acceptance and rehearsal/performance commitment is required for participation in any Performance Co. group. 
    • Please reach out to magalli@danceproject.org if you are interested in returning to/joining Performance Co.

Drop In Student Reminders

Fall 2023 Single Class Tickets Still on Sale!

  • Fall Semester runs 9.5-12.16 (14 weeks)
    • Drop In Rate: $15

*Parents of Dance Project youth students can purchase single tickets at half-price. Please contact office for more details.*

  • Dance Project does not accept cash, check or credit card payments in office for drop in class tickets/class pass purchases.

Parkinson’s Dance Class is ongoing!

  • Session Length: October 3 – December 12 *10 Weeks* (No class will be held on November 21st – Dance Project will be closed for Thanksgiving Break)
  • When: Tuesdays 9:30am – 10:30am 
  • Where: Van Dyke Performance Space, 1st Floor of Greensboro Cultural Center in Downtown (200 N. Davie St., Greensboro, NC 27401)
  • Who: People of any age or ability, with or without Parkinson’s (family members, loved ones, & caretakers invited!)
  • About this Class: Dance Project’s free program allows individuals with Parkinson’s or limited mobility to use dance as therapy. This class incorporates physical exercise, cognitive tasks, sensory experience, emotional expression, and social interaction. As a multidimensional activity, dance has the potential to address many of the challenges faced by persons with Parkinson’s or limited mobility. Instructor: Davida Reid. This program is supported by a community grant from the Parkinson’s Foundation and with support from Cone Health Medical Group.
